James Smelser, MD, FACP
Dr. Smelser graduated from Lipscomb University with a degree in biochemistry. He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama in Birmingham then completed his internal medicine residency and nephrology fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, Minn. He is board certified in internal medicine and nephrology. He is active in local hospital committees and on the board of Alabama Kidney Foundation. He has been a practicing nephrologist in Huntsville since 1995.
Dr. Smelser is a member of the American Medical Association, Madison County Medical Association, National Kidney Foundation, American Society of Nephrology and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.
He specializes in chronic kidney disease, hypertension, polycystic kidney disease and metabolic disease. He is also involved in ultrafiltration related to CHF inbalances.
Larry Walker, M.D.
Dr. Walker graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in chemical engineering. He received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. He completed his residency in internal medicine, followed by a nephrology fellowship at the University of Alabama at Birmingham Hospital.
Dr. Walker joined Huntsville Renal Clinic, PC in 2001. He is board certified in nephrology and internal medicine. He is a member of the American Medical Association, Madison County Medical Society and the Renal Physicians Association.
He specializes in chronic kidney disease, polycystic kidney disease and metabolic diseases.
Saad Rahman, M.D.
Dr. Rahman completed his internal medicine training at SUNY in Buffalo, N.Y., and his nephrology fellowship at St. Louis University School of Medicine, St. Louis, Mo., prior to moving to Huntsville Renal Clinic in 2005.
Dr. Rahman is board certified in nephrology and internal medicine and active in local hospital committees.

Heather Haley, D.O.
Dr. Haley graduated from the University of South Alabama with a degree in Biomedical Science. She then earned her medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. She returned to Alabama to complete her Internal Medicine residency with the Baptist Health System in Birmingham, where she served as a Chief Resident. Upon completion, she went on to do her Nephrology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.
Dr Haley is board certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine. She is a member of the American Medical Association and the American Society of Nephrology. She joined Huntsville Renal Clinic in 2010.
