Dr Smelser is Board certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine. He has been a practicing Nephrologist in Huntsville since 1995.

Dr Smelser graduated Summa Cum Laude from Lipscomb University with a degree in biochemistry. He received his medical degree from the University of Alabama -Birmingham School of Medicine, then completed his Internal Medicine residency and Nephrology fellowship at Mayo Clinic in Rochester, MN.
Dr Smelser is a member of the Alabama Kidney Foundation, American Medical Association, Madison County Medical Society, National Kidney Foundation, American Society of Nephrology and a Fellow of the American College of Physicians.

He specializes in chronic kidney disease, hypertension, polycystic kidney disease, metabolic diseases and all forms of dialysis.

Dr Walker graduated from the University of Alabama with a degree in chemical engineering. He received his medical degree from the University of Wisconsin School of Medicine. He returned to Alabama to complete his residency in Internal Medicine, followed by a Nephrology fellowship at the University of Alabama-Birmingham.

Dr Walker is a member of Madison County Medical Society and the Renal Physicians Association.
He specializes in chronic kidney disease, polycystic kidney disease, hypertension and all forms of dialysis.

Dr Rahman is Board Certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine.

Dr Rahman is Board Certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine. Dr Rahman joined Huntsville Renal Clinic in 2005.

Dr Rahman completed his Internal Medicine residency at SUNY in Buffalo, NY, and his Nephrology fellowship at St Louis University, in St Louis MO and the University of Pittsburg, PA.

He specializes in chronic kidney disease, hypertension, polycystic kidney disease, metabolic diseases, and all forms of dialysis.

Syed Hammad Alam, MD, CHS

Dr Alam is Board Certified in Internal Medicine and Nephrology.

Dr Alam specializes in the management and treatment of AKI, CKD, ESRD, glomerulonephritis, electrolytes and acid/base disorders and renal transplant. Dr Alam has authored several published articles on kidney disease and is a Certified Hypertension Specialist (CHS)

Dr Alam received his medical degree from the DOW University of Health Sciences (DUHS) in Pakistan. He later served as a General Medicine Practitioner in the Maldives before moving to Qatar where he completed Internal Medicine training at the HAMAD Medical Corporation in the affiliation with the Weill Cornell Medical School. Dr Alam completed a second Internal Medicine residency as well as his nephrology fellowship from the SUNY Upstate Medical Center in Syracuse, New York.

Dr Alam lives in Huntsville with his wife, son and daughter. He loves hiking, writing, photography and spending time with his family.

Heather Haley, D.O.

Dr Haley is Board Certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine.

Dr Haley is Board Certified in Nephrology and Internal Medicine. She joined Huntsville Renal Clinic in 2010.
Dr Haley graduated from the University of South Alabama with a degree in Biomedical Science. She then earned her medical degree from the West Virginia School of Osteopathic Medicine. She returned to Alabama to complete her Internal Medicine residency with the Baptist Health system in Birmingham, where she served as Chief Resident. Upon completion, she went on to do her Nephrology fellowship at the Medical University of South Carolina in Charleston.

Dr Haley is a member of Madison County Medical Society. She specializes in chronic kidney disease, hypertension, polycystic kidney disease, metabolic diseases and all dialysis modalities.

Dr. Anum Bilal is a board-certified nephrologist and internal medicine physician with extensive experience in academic medicine, clinical nephrology, and medical education

Dr. Anum Bilal is a board-certified nephrologist and internal medicine physician with extensive experience in academic medicine, clinical nephrology, and medical education. She completed her medical training at The Aga Khan University Medical College, followed by residency training in Internal Medicine at William Beaumont Hospital and a Nephrology Fellowship at Albany Medical College, where she served as Chief Fellow.

Dr. Bilal has held faculty appointments at Emory University Hospital and MedStar Georgetown University Hospital. Her clinical and academic interests include chronic kidney disease, hypertension, anemia in CKD, and quality improvement initiatives.

She has contributed to peer-reviewed publications, medical education, and national professional service through the American Board of Internal Medicine.
